MTW198 European Grinding roller Mill Common Faults and Maintenance Guide
The MTW198 European Type Grinding Mill is widely used for grinding and processing various non-metallic minerals, including bentonite, clay, potter's clay (kaolin), alabaster, pyrophyllite, gangue, barite, and barium sulfate. It is extensively applied in industries such as metallurgy, chemical engineering, steel production, and oil exploration.

1: Low Powder Output or No Finished Powder
Limestone Raymond Mill Possible Causes:
1. Poor sealing of the powder lock: The powder lock valve is not adjusted properly, causing the powder to blow back into the main mill along with the airflow. This leads to two major issues: First, the mill keeps grinding material inside, but the overall system produces zero efficiency. Second, as the powder blows back through the fan, it causes excessive wear and tear on the fan impellers and casing. In some cases, the control panel will show that the fan current is too high and overloaded.
2. Severely worn shovel blades: The shovel blades (scoops) are badly worn down and cannot scoop up the material properly.
3. Severely worn rollers and rings: The grinding rollers and rings are heavily worn, making the gap between them too large. As a result, the material can not form a proper layer between the roller and the ring. This issue will also cause abnormal machine vibration and excessive noise.
4. Low fan current.
Adjustment and Maintenance Methods:
1. Check the powder lock: Inspect the installation and sealing of the powder lock valve. If it is not sealed tightly, replace the seal in time. A standard Raymond mill is equipped with a dual-stage airlock system—both valves are essential and must not be missing or removed.
2. Inspect the shovel blades: During daily maintenance, check the wear condition of the shovel blades and replace them in time. Do not let them wear out completely. Otherwise, it will first drop your production output, and second, it will damage and wear out the blade base and the lower grinding disc.
3. Monitor the rollers and rings: After the grinding rollers have been used for more than 8,000 hours, check their thickness frequently during routine inspections and monitor any changes in production output. Replace them in time when necessary. The grinding ring usually has a longer lifespan than the rollers.
4. Clear blockages: Check if the main air duct or the grinding chamber is blocked. If there is any built-up material, clean it out immediately to clear the blockage.
